The THL Unit for eHealth and eWelfare

The function of the THL Unit for eHealth and eWelfare is to engage in research and development and provide expertise in information society issues in the social and health sector. The use of information and communications technology is a key priority area. The Unit is an expert body that bases its work on multidisciplinary research and development expertise, and national and international co-operation.

 

The THL Unit for eHealth and eWelfare

develops

the service delivery system in health and social care by methods that make use of information technology solutions

offers information by

  • maintaining a web service for social work professionals ('Sosiaaliportti')
  • maintaining a classification centre that produces the most important classifications in social and health care (e.g. ICD 10)
  • issuing publications
  • organising relevant seminars and conferences

evaluates

policies, processes and actions models in the context of information society developments in social and health care

conducts research on

phenomena linked to information society developments in social and health care from different points of view

participates

in preparatory work for information society issues in social and health care and in related discussion in an expert role.
